I recently bought a new pump for my reef and was wondering if using pvc would be the way to go for the in take and out take of the pump. My only concern is the glue used to hold the pvc together. Does anyone have any experience with this type of set up and how has it worked?
Its a mag drive pump that I'm trying to make a closed loop out of and I thought the pvc would be easier to work with and look better than the clear hosing in the tank which couldnt really be used to direct the flow of the return. Any ideas for something to cover up the intake? I have a clown...
Thats funny, my girlfriend got me the same thing for Christmas, but I havent ordered the corals yet. It is comforting to hear the good news about Lonestarcorals.
I recently got a Cirrhilabrus lineatus for my 90 gallon reef tank. The fish has been doing great and ate the day I put him in the tank. I saw a Cirrhilabrus lubbocki and my lfs and was wondering if they would be compatible. The tank also houses a small purple tang and I want to get a couple...
I don't have a sump, so the pump would have to be outside of it. I don't know how many gph for the pump, but I was thinking maybe around 1000, but I'm not sure.
I'm looking to buy a new circulation pump for my 90 gallon sps reef. The tank currently has about 1200 gph of flow from powerheads. What size/brand pump would be the best for this and what would the approximate cost be? Would a sea swirl also be a good investment and would 1 sea swirl and...
The water is good. I also just did about a 40% water change a week ago. I still have good polyp extension from all my acros and it seems like they would close up if water quality was an issue, but I could be wrong.
You don't need halides. I have kept a few species of acros under 330 watts of power compact lighting. They do have to be inches from the bulbs and most will turn brown, but i have had good growth from the acroporas with just power compact lighting. Metal halide is the way to go for colorful...
Could be. It just seems so odd for them to be healthy and eating last night and dead today. A few weeks ago I found and removed a 2.5" crab that was in the tank, which I think had killed and eaten a few other clowns I had. Its just weird because there seemed to be no bodily injury to the clowns.
I had 2 1" captive bred false percs in my 90 gallon reef. They seemed to be doing good and had been eating well. All of a sudden I came home today to find them dead, sucked up against a powerfilter I use solely for circulation. I don't think the current was too strong to pull the fish up to...
