  1. Moving Question - 58Gal Reef

Hello all, I am planning to move soon and can not figure out what to do with my tank. There might be a day or two between tear down and set up that I will need to accomidate the livestock. How long can you keep the critters stressed before a total wipe-out is expected. I called my LFS and...
  2. HELP!!! Green bubbles are taking over.

I would like a little advise. I have little (some big) green bubbles growing in my tank. They are mostly on the LR. I knock them off and burst them, but they keep coming back. Any advise on how to get rid of them..... for good? What are they? Thanks in advance for your advise. rms7129
  3. RO or RO/DI for reef supply water?

Need a little advise... I am tired of driving to the LFS and filling up my 5gal buckets with fresh water. I am looking for an RO or RO/DI filter. Just for top off water, which is best? I don't have a very complex tank... 4 fish 5-6 various corals, 58GAL. Do you really need the RO/DI combo...
  4. Convert from wet/dry to sump with LR and/or DSB-Suggestions?

I currently have a 58gal with about 50#LR in it. Have been running a small W/D filter with a CPR BakPak skimmer. I want to do away with the W/D and skimmer and up-grade to a larger sump and skimmer set-up. I have been slowly removing the bio balls from the filter and an about 70% finished...
  5. Basement sump - am I crazy?

RR, It will really depend on your pipe size, the GPM you are trying to push and the number of valves, elbows and tee's. You can do a search for friction loss calculators on the web. The 8' of vertical will have more pressure drop that the 40' of horizontal. http://www.irz.com/friction.htm...
  6. Request for comment on Top Fathom Skimmers

I am looking at buying a TF-200 venturi protein skimmer made by Top Fathom for my 58Gal reef tank. Have a CPR BakPac and it just does not do the job. Any comments good/bad on Top Fathom? THanks, Russell.
  7. Powder Blue Tank Question

All is back to normal. Dorsal fin is retracted and no signs of ick. Garlic worked like a charm. Back to eating like a pig. I have no idea what caused the problem... Maybe the food was lased with Viagra... who knows. Appreciate all the advice. This is great forum for un-biased opinions...
  8. Advise on System Changes

  9. Kick Ick

As far as eating, I should call her Ms. Piggy. When someone sits next to the tank, she goes straight to the surface and waits to be fed. Been feeding garlic extream soaked food for 3 days. Ick appears to be reduced a little. Hopfully a week or so should clear things up. Thanks for all...
  10. Kick Ick

This question comes from a PB tang that started acting funny. I have noticed a few bumps on its skin and trying to scrape itself on the rocks. Tank is 58G show. Wet/Dry, CPR back pack skimmer, U/V filter, 1 96w blue and 1 96W 10,000k C/F lights. About 50# live rock, 1 maroon clown (no...
  11. Kick Ick

Anyone had good results with "Kick-Ick" by Ruby Reef? Might need to treat my tank due to signs of white spots. The LFS recommended it. Thanks!!
  12. Powder Blue Tank Question

I really apprecite the feedback. I wierd thing is he/she has been in the tank for about 3-4 months with no problem. It and the Clown have a peaceful co-existance together. Just got back from work and it is still the same. I have noticed what might be signs of ick. The system does have a...

  14. Powder Blue Tank Question

I have had a powder blue in my reef tank for about 3 months now. Eats great, very active. This morning I noticed it's dorsal fin is staying extended. It looks like a tang when it is startled, but all the time. It ate as normal when I fed it tonight. Any ideas? Is this a bad sign :( Any...
