Even Washington is saying the floods in Iowa are caused by Global Warming.Rainfall up by 20% and only going to get worse. It's real and for you naysayers, keep believing it's not real. That can easily be NYC under water. This city is not prepared for something like that.

i think everyone agrees that climate change is happening. The argument is whether or not the climate change was caused by man or can be prevented by man.

Some feel that we are still coming out of the ice age, and the earth has been warming ever since. there was a time when the glaciers didnt exist and New York WAS completely underwater.

Even though most, if not everyone, agree that climate change is happening, but few acknowledge the effect of it is at a dangerous rate. At least, our current administration was not acknowledging it until recently when they have nothing else to brag on or their old talks are getting really old.

I'm glad at least they're making some kind of effort to do at least something about it but may be too late.We need to get the culprit countries together and help curb these dangerous emissions. Most people think,Oh,I'll be dead when it happens but not thinking about our children's future.

How should we prepare manhattan for such events? It's been proven by science that the earth has gone through cyclical heating and cooling and whether we were here or not it would happen. To what extent are we responsible? Who knows for sure but to assume that we are in control enough to end it is arrogant. Species were going extinct here long before man got here and others will go extinct after we're gone. I'm not saying we don't have an impact, I'm just saying I think Al Gore has caused enough problems.

Al Gore? He's passionate about the issue.Sorry but I'm on his bandwagon and too bad he didn't win the Presidential election as he should have won.I don't see how he's to blame for Global Warming.Even scientist are acknowledging the problem. It's that we're warming too fast is what the problem is and it is man made,Sorry.I'm sure the earth had it's ice and warming trends throughout the Milena but this is just too rapid and not normal. If there were no humans here, the earth would just balance out to the way things were before humans were here.Grass and trees would grow out and take over concrete and metal and become a green haven and the animals that can survive will and the ones that can't will perish but no humans. Some one has to fight for a cause.

Just one man's opinion. It's like debunking UFO's and Crop circles and such.Even though it's a good read,I firmly believe it's real and you may not and that's ok.I doubt very much that Gore would have an agenda with his so called Scare tactic. There are some who believe in god and some that do not.Conspiracies intrigue me but I keep an open mind about it and at the same time look at it scientifically.

conCerned aBout gLobal warming  get rid of ur reeF and lower ur carBon footprint... any other excuSes or justifications, taLk to tHis guy's buttoCks
[/IMG]

good advice, I'm going with a pico tank full of macro algae and shrimp.
the algae will produce O2, and I can eat the shrimp, thus preventing the need for shrimp farmers to fly fresh shrimp to me in NY.

I joke but there are things we should all do to reduce our carbon footprint.
the good news is that by living in the city we are all ahead of the game.
that is for those that live in the city.

Al Gore has a larger footprint than any of us. Flying all over the place in a private jet and have you seen the energy bill for his house?

Do as I say, not as I do.

Thanks Adam.I've heard he's backing Obama. He's a guy you want on your side.

I think Obama should stay clear from that guy. He is becoming a glorified Michael Moore.

I agree, Gore flying on a private plane to give talks about global warming is like us lighting our tanks with metal halide, using chillers, and wasting RO water, then crying about the environment ;)

seriously if you care about the environment and keeping your energy usage down then you have no business running a reef tank.

It comes down to this, well for me anyway, yes global warming is real; science has proved the planets temps have risen but they have also dropped. The causes are unknown, no one has proved that this is not a natural occurrence. Man likes to think he can control the environment but nature has proven to be undefeated champ.

And if Al Gore was so concerned about this why consume 20x the national average in electric? http://www.tennesseepolicy.org/main/article.php?article_id=367

Before we were here egypt was a lush grassland and forest and now it's a desert. Those egyptians must have been running too many cars before they realized it was too late. Before we were here there were massive glaciers that covered most of the planet. The fact is that this planet is still an infant in the grand scheme of the universe and it's still settling. There was never any "balance" that you speak of and there won't be for a long time. Any scientist will tell you the same thing. If we were never here the climatic history of this planet would remain the same. Yes, we effect it but please get off your high horse before you fall and end up in the hospital hooked up to all sorts of electronics that use more electricity derived from fossil fuels...
