I hope Pettitte gets no other offers. That will make him realize what he passed up.

I would trade Swisher over Nady in a heartbeat. I am a big fan of Nady and expect him to play everyday and contribute in a big way.

Pettitte should take notes from smoltz. He signed a 5 million for 1 year with incentives that could raise his salary to 10mil for this year pending a physical.

Nady, Swisher on Nats radar

MLB.com reported that the Nationals have interest in acquiring outfielder Xavier Nady and first baseman Nick Swisher from the Yankees.

The website added that Washington, shut out in the pursuit of free agents, feels that Nady or Swisher could improve an offense that finished near the bottom of the National League last year.

The Nationals came up short in pursuit of Mark Teixeira and Milton Bradley, who signed elsewhere, Washington has also tried to sign free agents Adam Dunn and Orlando Hudson, but they have exceeded the team's price range.

Yankees, Pettitte still talking

Andy Pettitte | Yankees | Interested: Dodgers?
There continues to be dialogue between the Yankees and Andy Pettitte, though the club remains unconvinced the left-hander will accept a one-year offer for $10.5 million, the Record in New Jersey reported.

The newspaper added that the Yankees still prefer Pettitte over the pool of current free agents. Unless a free agent starting pitcher such as Ben Sheets would accept a one-year deal at a severe discount, the Yankees appear content to head to spring training with Phil Hughes heading a field for the No. 5 spot.

Various reports earlier this off-season claimed Pettitte turned down a one-year, $10 million deal.

More and more I am starting to hate Joe Torre: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3859198

I saw him falling asleep on the bench during games (at least his eyes were closed) and he didn't seem motivated to me. I saw nothing wrong with the offer they put on the table for him. He still would have been the highest paid coach in MLB. His head got a little too big. I guess he forgot that before he was the Yankees manager he was a losing coach. Very unprofessional IMO.

Record by team:

Mets: 286-420 (5 seasons)
Braves: 257-229 (3 seasons)
Cardinals: 351-354 (6 seasons)

Total Before Yankes: 894-1000 (only made the playoffs 1 season out of 14 and lost all 3 games)

Yankees: 1173–767 (12 seasons) 76-47 in the playoffs
Dodgers: 84-78 (1 season so far and the team was 94-68 the year before Torre took over) 4-4 in the playoffs

Dodgers (before Manny): 54-54
Dodgers (after Manny): 30-24

The book is being written by Tom Verducci of sports illustrated. He's knows for stirring up problems. Wouldn't be surprised at all if he changed around some statements made by Torre.
