I don't know why the Yankees would trade Nady. He has been improving every year in the bigs and played great for them last year. Screw Swisher! Maybe its because Swisher can play the outfield as well as first base?
Yankees shop Nady over Swisher
The Yankees would strongly prefer to trade
Xavier Nady and retain
Nick Swisher to alleviate their current roster logjam, a person familiar with the club's thinking told Newsday.
The newspaper reported that general manager Brian Cashman has received more requests for Swisher than for Nady. With spring training more than a month away and the season opener just about three months away, however, there is no imperative to execute a quick trade.
By signing
Mark Teixeira to an eight-year, $180-million deal, the Yankees pushed Swisher out of the starting first-base slot. Now the Yankees have Swisher, Nady,
Johnny Damon and
Hideki Matsui to cover the corner outfield and designated hitter spots.
The Pittsburgh Post Gazette reported that the Pirates have had trade talks with the Yankees regarding outfielders Swisher and Nady, but there is little cause to expect a deal involving either coming to Pittsburgh.
Houston an unlikely stop for Pettitte

MLB.com reported that the
Houston Astros are a highly unlikely destination for
Andy Pettitte, the free agent lefthanded who turned down an offer from the
New York Yankees.
Newsday suggested Thursday that Pettitte "might be softening on his opposition to rejoining the Astros," but MLB.com said the Astros have maxed out their payroll at $100 million and aren't planning to add.
"We haven't had any discussion with Andy or his representatives and we don't see a scenario where he would fit into our payroll scenario at this time," Astros GM Ed Wade told the website.
