I just got rid of FIOS.
I had Fios for about 2 1/2 years, never warmed up to it for a variety of reasons.
It took an entire day for them to install it and their battery back up clogs up a receptacle permanently. The battery in the unit is also only guaranteed for a year - after that time YOU have to pay for the replacement battery ($100).
(the only upside was the dead battery makes an awesome door-stop..lol)
Their rates are awful if you have a 2nd phone line in your home (basic no frills on the 2nd phone line cost me $61 a month with Fios).
Twice they had to come and change the huge box on the side of my home (the tech spend the ENTIRE time yakking on a personal cell phone)
They also had to replace the box used on my most watched TV 3 times over the 2 1/2 years.
The thing that probably bugged me the most was the big ohhh-ahhh crap about the fiber optics...well...fiber optics to the POLE outside of my home, but they used the same tired old copper cables inside of the house that were originally installed by Cablevision.
I will say there was less minor interference on the phone lines when the weather was extremely rainy, but aside from that I
saw no difference in the services.
When I called Verizon to tell them I was leaving they first offered to save me $10 a month, and when I said no, they offered me $20 off per month (I suggest anyone call them & threaten to leave and you will also probably get made an offer...

)
That was still not enough for me to make a difference.
So I finally got rid of them and just went back to Cablevision (lesser of 2 evils IMO), I got the 'boost' package with the quicker internet speeds ( NO less quick that Verizon was even with 3 or 4 computers running here at the same time) and that service includes the wireless router)
While I had FIOS I got 2 new HD TV's and the picture is 100% BETTER with Cablevision..and no, none of the interior wiring was changed when Cablevision did the installation 2 weeks ago.
I am stuck with the stupid Verizon box on the outside of my home and the instructions state that is now a permanent part of my home, nor to they take back the battery back up thing and I have no idea how to disconnect it. (Cablevision does offer a battery back up system of their own - if you pay for it - it is about $100, but I decided to forgo that since I have a whole house gener
ator and we all have cell phones here)
..and happy I have my News12 back

Can't stand what they consider news on the major stations and tried of hearing so much about New Jersey....
did I mention that I am saving $100 a month over Verizon and their inflated pricing?
..my 2 cents on the debate
