Nice pics. I remember catching those caterpillars in Madison when I was a kid and raising them into Monarchs. Anyways... thanks for the reminiscent photos.
Here's my contribution... its from a trip I took to Baja about a year ago.

Ahh my favourite subject, with the exception of marine tanks of course

Here's a pic I took last year of a Common Blue butterfly though there's nothing 'common' about this beauty I think :D

Regards

Lisa

Sweet, sweet pic, Lisa! Welcome to reefs.org!

Hurray, another new member photographer! :D Keep the pics a-comin'!

Hey, I had a suggestion from my sister that perhaps the bee photo would be more interesting if the bee were dead center. So I re-cropped the photo. What do you guys think? Bee pic number 1, or bee pic number 2?

The 1st bee pic is the better of the two, by far. It looks fantastic composited that way...

Peace,

Chip

Thanks for the welcome HD. Of the two I much prefer your first pic although there's possibly a little too much dead space to the right. Generally a shot is much better compositionally if the main subject is not centered.

Btw Undergrad, that's one scary beetle 8O

Here's another of my favs

Regards

Lisa

spider.jpg

let me know what you think, I just had to take the shot I have never seen a spider take out a bee. The funiest thing about it was about 2 hours later I saw the same spider under that flower waiting to get it's next meal! 8O

Here is another kewl buggy

At first we thought this was a hummingbird as it flies exactly like one, it never got close enough to get a really good shot, and it flitted all over the place so I took 10 pics and this is the best one. The really interesting thing is that this bugs Probiscus was like 1.25 inches long and it uncurled it while flying and poked it down into the flower. Most amazing looking thing I have ever seen

Sorry the pic doesn't do it justice

Took this on 5/26/00. Spent most of the afternoon laying in the grass in front of my (now) wife's family's cottage. There was a steady stream of nymphs leaving the lake, and metamorphosizing in the grass and on the lower portion of the camp. This is just one of many.....

TS-How many pics did you actually take before you got a Dragonfly to sit still that long? Those are most amazing shots! Actually all these are amazing shots.

Sweeeeeeeeeet pics, guys. I had a chance to get some cool dragon shots, but my dumb ass left my camera at my folks' house. Had them mail it to me (insured) and get to go pick it up tonight. Ahhh, I SO have the shutter bug (pun).

Thanks, Bryan! Nice pics- I like the grasshopper one.
