Pets Pad Plus on Woodhaven closed over a year ago. It replaced part of what had been Aquatic Treasures(?). While its SW tanks always looked like crap, the livestock was usually healthy and frequently inexpensive. Take care, Eric

Berkel Marine is now closed for business.

They are back in business on Ditmars and 41st street. The new place is cramped, and mostly in a basement, however the tanks look very nice and the prices are great.

You left off Looking Glass in Flushing, and for you younger folks Aquatic treasures on Woodhaven Blvd.

Aquatic Treasures was my favorite place! His prices were high to say the least, but Mr. Young really did care for the fish, and corals.
I remember today like it was yesterday the arguments my BF had with him, because he would refuse to sell her a fish that he felt she would not be able to keep.
Lee: What do you care, it's my money!!
Mr. Young: It is a living creature, and we are responsible for it!
Lee: It's my money!
Mr. Young: I don't care about your money!! I care about the fish!!
Lee: I'll go buy it else where!
Mr. Young: You do that! I will not sell it to you, cause it will die in your tank. Your tank not ready for that fish!
These type of arguments went on and on between the two of them, while I stood there shaking my head.
Lee, could be so very stubborn when she wanted something, and could care less what anyone had to say. But she was my Best Friend, and I miss her....
I also miss Mr. Young, and his family. They were a great bunch...

First LFS person I ever met that cared more for the animals then the almighty dollar!!!

Aquatic Treasures was a great place...pricey, but good quality. Awilda is spot on in her description...I don't know how many times he told me he wanted to leave the business because of all the customers who wanted things they couldn't care for. Its a shame that the business closed...apparently the blackout in '03 destroyed everything. That's the reason it wasn't on the list..the list was made in '06. How any of these places have closed since? Pets Pad Plus, H20, Tropical Island, WWOF, what else?

kissena aquarium is very good,price on dry good and live stock is not bad.Check it out

Fish Town has decent selection..prices are up and down depends when you go, kissena is the same thing but they have limited selection I am actually very cool with people at those stores as well as northern aquarium..all decent stores,knowledgeable people. Northern and kissena will not charge you tax though so that's a plus for us as consumers. LOL @ the guy who mentioned looking glass aquarium I miss that place I bought my 1st Lizard there. I am always looking for new spots and will post more reviews after I visit. GL all.
