Yee-Haa...my FIRST post here !!....ok, lets get serious. Not sure if this is even the right spot for this post, so i apologize if it isn't. Hello to everyone here, i just signed up and will be joining you guys for, hopefully, a long time ! I have a 90 gal glass tank that I've had for about 6 years and ONLY had freshwater, NEVER saltwater fish. I've had cichlids, parrots, piranhas, you name it, i probably had it at one time or another. I'm knowledgable with the nitrate, nitrite, ph, ammonia levels, temp, etc,. I'm taking the plunge to saltwater and I am a little nervous, curious, can't wait, etc. I am reading the book, " saltwater for dummys " , which i find interesting. A friend of mine told me to join this site, he said it is the best around, and calls it highly addicting !!. As of now, I stare at an empty tank :grumpy:. the fish are gone. The gravel, decorations, plants, etc gone, its all cleaned out, and ready to go. You know how bad it sucks to stare at an empty tank ??...lol....I desperately want to get started, but i know this can't be rushed. Step one, obviously is a wet/dry filter & pump. I used/ still have a fluval 404, an aqua clear 110, and turbo-twist 18watt sterilizer i used w/the freshwater fish, but now its a whole new ball game, i guess ??. My friend said there are alot of good sales here and i should definitely check them out, before i buy elsewhere...Whew..sorry for such a long post but i figured you want to know were I'm at. So, i'm at square one and don't know which direction to head in...

Thanks guys, if you could be so kind as to point me in the right direction on purchasing a wet/dry filter & pump ??..I'm hearing, well the fish store in my area uses Pro-clear wet/dry filters, and they recommend overkill, like a 175 or 200 filter for my 90 gal tank and a " little giant " pump as opposed to a submersible ??....I checked e-bay & craigslist all pretty expensive. I also browsed the web for the equipment, but a few places don't ship the wet/dry cause they break during delivery by ups or fed ex. do i buy used or new ?.....Any help in where to purchase this equipment at reasonable prices would be greatly appreciated...thanks again.....

Welcome! What will you be setting up? Fish only, Fish with Live rock , or reef? Also make sure you clean your tank and other equipment you are using really well (vinagar bath). MR Community will help you out so feel free to ask

Welcome to mr... Look at the various tanks on mr and get some ideas....There are many great tanks on this forum. In addition, do some more reading....and then some more....:splitspin...you get the point. As said before you might want to consider a different sump setup for future expansion...Take your time....Nothing good comes quickly ...patience and have some fun with it...Best of Luck... Feel free to pm me if you need some help.
