After having to leave my tank behind in Seattle a year ago, I'm finally starting my 60G rimless cube build. I started the build one month ago and planning started a couple weeks before that. Without further ado, here are some pics.
Using old aquarium (new sump) as water level.
Had to cut some portion of braces in order for sump to fit in.
All done and ready to paint.
Cool color, apple red, chosen by my wife. Keeping your significant other happy with the tank has utmost importance
The tank, 60G Mr. Aqua rimless cube, came in to my LFS, Fauna nyc in uws. It was very reasonably priced and they were very helpful.
painted
suspenseful music while drilling.
ta da! drilled without breaking the tank, it's much easier than it sounds. Just take your time.
glass holes returns and overflow. Small compared to tank size but I plan to have most of my flow with a vortech or koralia.
dioder led lights for the sump from ikea.
very bad silicone craftsmanship, but luckily it won't be out in the open so that's fine Got the glass from capitol glass by email and they delivered to my door. How convenient is that
plumbing done.
painted the pvc and back of the tank.
aquascaping with magazine paper. It didn't work as I expected so I switched to aluminium sheets. worked great. I'm going for an open, minimalistic look, trying to make a capital 'G' letter, my wife's initial
Got the rocks from reefcleaners. John is great and have excellent customer service. He sent me the exact rocks that I asked. I knew I wanted reef-friendly rock but there were quite a few options. I'm very glad that I went with reefcleaners.
The letter G and that's it so far. Will update the thread as I have more to show. Thanks for checking out my build
