Going a different route...

5 months?any update pics?:scratchch

Just saw this. Here are some pics. I've been building up the stand to make it stronger and it looks like I'm going a different route and setting up the cube as a FW tank for fancy guppies. Too tired of all the maintenance. Need to keep it simple.

I hooked up the BK 300 Deluxe External Protein Skimmer July 1st and it's helped me reduce some of the maintenance and $$$ such as changing the GFO and carbon. I also notice that the ORP values shot up by 100 and the PH is higher.

Are you serious?

Semi-serious... I might consider get Molly's instead of Fancy Guppies since they can adjust to Brackish and Saltwater. Keeping it seperate from the rest of the system. Want to setup something where I can change the water once a month and just use regular tap water for water changes.

Leak testing... Half way there

Filled the tank with 100 gallons of tank water. Testing it for leaks before going any further since the tank has been without water for a year. Here are some updated pics with the Tonga Branch rock in place and starboard sitting on the bottom of the tank. Very open space and very few branches touching the starboard and a powerhead for circulation. Stand painted glossy black with the most important thing already in place... LED TV and Blu-Ray DVD up and running!

New counter current protein skimmer for 240

Water testing this tank for over a month now. I'm planning on using this skimmer to handle the new bioload. It's a Sanders counter current protein skimmer that uses an airstone. Need to get an air pump and an airstone as well as some rigid tubing. Had it sitting around for over 20 years, so now it's time to use it, lol...

Oops! Wrong pic, lol... Putting in this skimmer instead to skim the entire system. Just a tad bigger with a 20" wide collection cup. :teeth:

Hmm.... I don't think I ever posted this before but.......

Are you out of your freakin mind with that skimmer on a 240!!!! LOL
Extreme overkill :) Definitely badass though.

What are the dimensions of this tank? Did you decide on a lighting scheme?

Very excited for you. I can't wait to go big :)
