you can clearly see i put the legs on the outside due to it blocking one of the bulkheads.

you guys think if i cover the frame w/ 1" sheets it will help make it sturdier.

Everything looks good, but I'm not sure if the stand is going to hold up. Looks like theres only 8 screws total holding up the tank and all the wieght is on them.

Maybe jhale or someone with experience could chime in. Maybe i really just WAYYYY overbuilt.

kris there are 3X that many screws. but you are right. i'm not happy w/ it.

i definately won't set it up until i'm satisfied w/ the stand. i'll put some more 2x4s on it. i saw your stand that is a piece of art.

Reality sucks lol. Just be safe with it. The plywood at that thickness would add a lot of strength from what J told me.

Open the file in your paint program then click Image then click stretch/skew and make the percentages smaller...try 30 and 30 first.

wanted to make sure my return plumbing and return pump fit together.

like a glove. i'm pretty happy that i was able to leave the plumbing the way it was....so far.

i know it's threaded.LOL

marinedepot says the output is 3/4" so the fitting is 3/4"

Which mag is that? My 7 comes with 1/2 output but i made it to be 1inch. It helps the pump run better and you get more flow to the tank that way.

another question. my drain splits into two. my guess is that one of them can be plumbed directly into my skimmer and the other would have a filter sock. am i right? how can i tell if i'm getting too much or too little flow into the skimmer?

Hmmm not sure about that but yes one can go to your skimmer and one can go to a filter sock. Coming together nicely Jon!!!

a friend of mine gave me a ride to LOwes in NJ yesterday. got the wood for my canopy and they even cut it for me. got home right away and started getting busy. it was pretty much attaching the sides to the front since all the wood was cut. ahhh, how great.

after putting it all together i realized i wanted the front to be a separate piece for easy access. i could leave it attached or unscrew the front. still not sure what to do. the canopy is far from done. i'd like to put some trim on it and make it look pimp. i also have to buy more wood to reinforce my stand. here are some pics of the progress

stained the canopy last night. just to get a feel of what it would look like. i chose a very dark stain. i applied the first coat last night and i'll apply the second tonight. pics to come.

i may get a new stand from tim. we'll see how that goes
