Yup, hinges on the top so the hood can swing open

Did you acclimate your corals to the new light? What did you have for lights prior to the upgrade?

I turned down the photo period from 10 hours to 5 hours and gradually increasing it. I'm up to 7 hours/day currently
I also had T5's before as well so its the same lighting, except newer bulbs

Overdriving T5 lights

How do you overdrive T5's? Is it just by using the Icecap ballast (430 or660) or is theresomething else involved? and when you overdrive them how much more wattage are you getting or is it more intensity in the light?

I too have been to Ming's home and his tank is awesome in person! Loaded with healthy corals and well balanced color. I went there to pick up an overflow box and came home with 7 frags all of which are doing great even in my 4 week old tank.
The digitata frags must have grown 1/2 inch in the past 2 weeks!

Nice to have met you and to have part of your reef bringing mine to life!!

dnyce - that is correct, the IceCap ballasts overdrives them. Nothing else involved. They get more wattage and intensity. According to IceCap, the 54W bulbs gets overdriven to I think 80W

Yeah, I can still add a few frags here and there if I really want it, but for the most part, I'm playing the waiting game for my small frags to grow out
