Just orderd my last SPS, an efflo. A local guy is placing a large order with an on-line vendor and let me piggy back the shipment so no shipping for me. I think he said it will be two weeks or so before he gets the shipment.

I think my tank has coodies. My garf bonsai has never looked like I though it should. Last night I gave it a good once over and i think I see red dots on it. So time to sweet talk my vet for some heartworm meds. Of all the reef pest I could get this is the one I would want. They kill slow and the treatment is easy. I will be getting my last SPS frag soon so once delt with I should be good to go. Even with the red bugs it is encrusting like mad.

My garf bonsai is growing like mad too. I raised it from a single stick to a small colony in about 4-5 months. I glued it flat on a plug. It's still pretty small, but has a dozen or so branches.

I've never had red bugs. (knock on wood)

If you are going to get a reef pest red bugs is the one to have. I had them in the 156, did the heart worm treatment and all was good, did not loose a thing.

Just picked up the same tank you have. Got it plus a ton of equipment for 250 from a guy that downsized. Cleaning it up and starting the plumbing. Yours looks great!

Are the MP10s enough flow for the 60? Would the MP40 be too much do you think?

The MP10 are just fine for the tank. They make a bit of noise when running wide open, but other than that no complaints

Got the third and last treatment for red bugs done this past weekend. I have seen no sign of them since the first treatment. I think I got them. I am also done stocking SPS frags. Got the last pieces two weeks ago during the treatment.

I need to take some pics to show you guys. Things are starting to grow, but I still have a hair algae so it does not look as nice as it could. The algae is slowly going away. I have not taken drastic measures since I look to be getting the better of it. I do a little manual harvesting on water change day and the snails and tang keep it in check.

I miss having a shrimp. I am going to give it a few weeks before I add two back. Want to be on the safe side with the medicine.

Too much nutrients causing the algae?

Do you use your own RO unit? If so what kind?

It is what caused the algae problem. My tank got ever fed by my wife when I took my girls to Houston for the concert and by my tank sitter while I was on vacation. After 10 days of heavy feeding it has a nice batch of algae. It is receding slowly and I do not want to starve the tank, or buy tons of snails or anything. So slow and steady it is.

I do make my own water it is a airwaterice.com typhoon III 5 stage unit.

How about a sump picture? My last tank I used PVC pipe, thinking about using flex pipe this time around. I am always curious how other folks plumb their systems.

Lazy on the pics again. I got new stuff. Picked up a purple and green hammer and teal maxima clam on Wednesday. Today I got a green acan and orange m. seotosa from a local reefer as a trade for a pump I was not using. Still fighting the hair algae, still receding slowly. I think I got a grip on what the cause was (feeding to much reef pearls), even the macro algae is not growing much these days.
