i'm sorry for all the people in areas like corona, astoria, woodside, sunnyside, south j hts, north elmhurst, etc whose power went out.
are gas operated generators legal?
my brother who works for ConEd (just reads meters) was telling me how they are saying they are fixing the problems so they don't happen again, and blaming it on fires and the storms, but that its only partially true, that the real problem is that coned cant keep up with all the illegal apartments, something about dozens of illegal apartments on each block in those dense areas, that will always pull more power than even the biggest capacitators installed underground and in the poles will ever be able to handle. he said even in 1 family zones there are still typically 1 family houses with up to 10 apartments each with each unit having its own fridge, AC, television, electric stoves, mwwaves and other appliances - and that coned doesnt want to do an exposee on that if it doesnt have to, because it would diminish the billions of dollaz in revenue from all the illegal dwelling units households usage. i lived in corona and yeah wondered why electricity would go out even in winter months. and back then during the 50hr long summer blackout i did lose alot.
anyways you guys if you can install a generator outdoors and its legal maybe its worth it for all your expensive livestock, cause you can't count on the outtages problem being resolved in the coming years because of the above issue only getting bigger. and also have to face whenever it goes down it can take up to a week to get back power.
i am in the process of taking down my tanks because of humidity problems in my basement, otherwise i'd offer board.
please post what sort of stuff died on you?
