there was no truthful statement that came out of your fingers
I agree, I do not use my fingers to speak. So, you are correct.

Says the stealth vendor...
It's still funny to me people complain about capitalism yet choose to live in a capitalist society. Wait... people want to... make money to increase their wealth and quality of life!? No way! GET OUT! That is absurd. I hear communism is nice this time of year.

MatthewScars is right about capitalism but haven't we seen enough over inflation of markets, Housing, Medical, Tech, Financial, etc to allow it to affect the hobby?
Or am I just off my meds?
is it me or is it starting to get personal? This thread was not meant for that. All I wanted to see is if ppl felt the same way I did in the pricing of "rare" (common) corals. I am not besmirching those that are supplementing their hobby y selling a few things. Hell you pay the electric, water change, supplement, upgrade, etc and in the course of time things grow out and you frag and recoup. I for one buy as low as possible and I don't mind growing out a small frag (Rome was not Built in a day. It did crash and burn because it over reached).
I guess what I am disappointed at is the lack of conscience that has provided the "hobby"
Yes we live in a capitalistic society, yes ppl have the right to charge what they wish, but that being said its quiet another thing when the "trading" becomes more expensive than just going to the LFS and buying whatever.

It is getting personal because certain people are making idiotic random jabs at mr members for no reason.
there is no reason for prices to be the way they are. if you wanna make career money out of it invest in a store front. Otherwise be fair. There are only a handful (if that) of fair manhattan reefers that have hooked me up or even given me something free.
It's like high school on here with everyone having there own little cliques when we really should all be working in favor of each other to get the best prices and avoid all this like 100$ polyp bs.
Everyone needs to stop complaining.
The point being missed by many people is, some people dont care about reefing. They dont care about community, or making friends. They found a way to buy something then sell it for an insane profit. So they do it. While you may have a strong sense of community, many do not. they just want to make money.
Only negitive thing I said was calling him a stealth vendor. Which was a proven fact in the past. .
How are you calling someone a stealth vendor who doesn't OWN a tank?? Rob is my bf, I own my tank. He lives with me.
He is an active community member. He has a tank in his/your house to hold coral. Seriously, come on.
I am done with this meaningless conversation. Logic obviously escapes you.
I can go to crutchfield and buy new deck for $500, or find it new on ebay or another vendor for $300. So why would I buy it from CF?
Are you a car audio installer? For those that aren't there is a very compelling reason to buy from CF -> Their customer service!
Hey the guy in china town is a good guy in my book. He has hooked me up plenty of times. I also think in all reality he sells at a fair price. When something is not I pass ut that is far and few in between. As for the dirty little tanks I see it as a testament to what you can do with so little. There is no crazy expensive equipment to be sure. If he is using the money he makes to buy more coral and sell so he can get better tanks, gear, etc, I say more power to him as long as he keeps his prices and trades fair.
Anyway, its great to hear all this feedback. Maybe we should arrange a potluck coral event if someone is willing to host. ( would host but Im in manhattan and I could not get 5 ppl in with out ppl on each others shoulders! LOL) No vendors, No crazy names, no financial machinations. Just fish, critters, coral, algae, sand and supplements that you are trimming down, have no further need for. Pick a number out of a hat to decide the order and pick and pluck some enjoyment? It could be the first step in normalizing the pricing structure and hell maybe you can get a learn something you didn't know, save some gas, meet a new reefing buddy.
Beer (eerr coral) summit? What do you all think?
