First, I am not from TN. That is an
assumption on your part. Second, I have lived/worked in BA, DF, Monterrey, Juarez, Sao Paolo, Porto Alegre, Oaxaca, and have traveled to countless others in Latin America. I have also lived/worked in Toronto, Madrid, Milan, Lyon, and other cities in Europe. I was born in Tokyo. Don't assume you know anything about me. I speak fluent Spanish and Italian. According to most my friends outside the South my English isn't so good.
I have had countless roommates, friends and aquantances from all over Latinoamerica.
You missed the point entirely. My comment to Naesco was a lighthearted jab- a slight attempt at humor based on the fact that IME most Canadians are so adamant that they are NOT "Americans." My point about "eh", "funny looking mounties" and "Tim Hortons" was also tongue in cheek. One of the greatest attirbutes of most of the Canadians that I have met is their ability and their willingness to poke fun at themselves and more importantly at us. I have a friend who is from Ontario but who has lived in the States for many years, and has just been promoted to a position in Calgary. I commented to him that an astounding number of famous commedians are Canadian. Without missing a beat he responded that they simply have so much material to work with, making fun of "Americans!" None of my comments were intended to to offend the delicate sensibilities of our neighbors to the north. They were intended to be light-hearted and good natured. Heaven knows that we have more to make fun of on the south side of the border!
While it is true that in most areas if you say the word "American" people understand it to mean citizen of the United States of America, being an "American" abroad I have had many Latinamericanos have reminded me that "We are all Americanos on this continent."
Your implication that I live in a trailer park and am racists shows your own inclination to steriotype. I am glad that membership in the "Internation Community" has helped you to rise above steriotyping and prejudice. Your implications are incensing and simply untrue. As for your ability to use what you think are big words simply implies that you can afford a decent dictionary.
In retrospect, my initial reply to you was too harsh. I apologize for the language I used. I also assumed you were from this country, and I shouldn't have made that assumption. Again I apologize.
To the many Canadians on this board I will apologize if I have offended. My comments were not intended to offend. I know well that there are cultural differences between our two nations, and respect the fact that many find the distinction between "American" and "Canadian" to be important. I think that for the most part we have more in common than that which is different. The Canadians that I have met are some of the nicest, most accomodating and fun people I have met.
When I visit Toronto (which recently has been about once every six weeks) my friends there are quick to kid me about being an "American." It is true what my friend said that "they have so much material to work with." It is good-natured kidding and they seem to enjoy some kidding in return.

Back to fish:
CJ- I am glad the Tang went back. I have wanted one for quite some time, but have decided against buying one due to their dismal success record. I think taking it back also sent the right message to the LFS.
For those of you who have been following this thread for information about the tang or simply for entertainment purposes, please review the poll on the powder blue tang and add any information/experience you might have.
I hope that someday we will know more about the care of this particular fish and that it will be aquacultured.
