Well after reading this (for a long time) I thought I would try my hand with one in my nano. So far so good. He has been in there for a few weeks now and is doing well. My false perc is even sleeping in it at night (just plays in it during the day).

As a side note. My buddy's condy has gotten so big it actually grabbed him and tried to pull him in the tank the other day. He has some pretty wicked marks across his arm. It has completely taken over a third of his tank (30 gallon). His tomato clown loves it though.

Well, I was stunned and stumped by this thread. First by Dewr's reaction. I think it fits very well an old saying that goes something like that: "The stupid is not stupid enough until he's proud of it".

Second, it's the first time when I realized that those anemones are not white!

Finally, a question regarding such a "hardy" anemone that died in my care: some time ago I bought a white one with pink (or purple) tips. I aclimatized it and placed it in my fuge - a 20 gallon long tank with 130W of PC (10000K + actinics). It died after about 1-2 weeks. I don't think it ate anything in the mean time although I tried to feed it meaty foods (shrimp, fish, etc.). I always assumed that 130 W were too little for it.

The question is: were indeed the 130W too little light for them or was the bleaching the cause of its death? If it was the bleaching I'll look for a brown one and try again. If it's the light I will not...

Thanks,
Mihai

I just had to jump in and add my experience.

My Condy hasn't moved in at least 9 months. He/She has never killed a fish that I know of. Although I bought the Condy to make sure my water and lighting was suitable for more exotic anenomies, I have grown attached to it and enjoy having it in my tank. He/She shares the 45gal with Sebae Clown - Yellow Tang - Hawkfish - Damsel - Coral Banded Shrimp. If your new to anenomies, because of their hardiness, I think it's good to start with one.

Just my 2 cents.

Bryan, I believe that they are expelling waste when they do that, kind of turning the stomach inside out, but I am not positive, I seem to remember reading it somewhere but like I said, not positive. How is yours doing?

Hell of a run on sentence wasn't it lol. I am not going to correct just for the sheer humor in reading it lol.

Apparently its just doing what it does...

Its brown now with purple tips, its a bit larger. I have been feeding it about once a week, plus it seems to be taking bits of stuff from the rocks and sand around it.

It moved again, but that was totally my fault, when I redid my sump the flow in the main was off for a long time and it apparently got unhappy.

I am hoping I can get it around to the front of the tank by directing a bit of flow at it, Its extremely beautiful....
