I'm in, PMed you Jhale. I read this entire post. I think it's a great idea. Like I told you before, during my 3 deployments, something went wrong on every one of them. Since I was a member on MR before I left this time, I had the forethought to personally call Jackson and ask him if he could help out while I'm away. And of course, my MH ballasts shorted out and the compressor on my chiller fried. We all spent a lot of money on our tanks and the last thing you want to see when you get home is a tank full of nothing but dark green hair algae and aptasias.
I
saw that some people didn't like the idea of the diagrams and stuff. I know that it would be a pain in the a$$ to do it, but you should try to draw something up. Out of the 50 people who said yes, I'm willing to bet we have 50 very different set-ups with different equipment. Look on the bright side, this may force you into cleaning up your wiring and plumbing a bit. You can also take pictures and then edit in lables and arrows on the photos.
I work as a plumber on the side and you guys know I love my DIY, so I have plenty of tools. Having beeen in the hobby for a while, I've also got plenty of extra pumps, temporary holding tanks and even a back up chiller. As for my regular job in the fire dept, just keep in mind that at least 2 times a week, I'm out of the loop for 24 hours.
This is a really good thing, and with 50 people willing to help, you shoud be able to get someone over any time.
