Times r bad I've been out of work for over 7 months this year thank god I'm going back tommorrow I will say if I didn't have this hobby a lot of my time would have been spent feeling bad for myself instead vie learned sooo sooo much over the past year
On the other hand when your in school u r truly broke and busy soo I understand why your leaving consider a 10 gal nano just to keep ur foot in the door then when ur a bigtime actor u can get that dream system

Ok here is my advice, take it or leave it. Get an all in one tank. Sell everything you have now that will not fit in the nano. Be happy with small water changes and a nice little tank until you are able to set up a bigger system. You may find that you like the all in one quite a bit.

Plus you might be able to save some of the things you have now and put them in a nano tank.

+1 Dont say goodbye just down size. Take what you learned and start with something smaller and simpler. I started with a 12 gallon all-in-one and it was by far the easiest tank I ever had. You can fill the whole thing with frags instead of colonies.

Almost two years ago my 150 reef, which was stocked with SPS and expensive fish sprung a leak and I gave up in disgust. I felt much like you feel, but what drew you to the hobby will likely draw you back. I needed a break and I'm presently rebuilding again. Good luck and we'll all be here when you come back.

Yeah dude.. I feel your pain. Being young.. in school... and having aspirations of having a sick looking reef tank like Jarretts' or anyone elses on MR.. does not mix well at all.

I'm still surprised I keep my 6g Nanocube running with only a few corals that I've lost in the past 9 months. Every one talks about how much easier a big tank is to keep... which it probably is in the sense of keeping your water quality in check, but your bank account normally takes a nose dive.

And hell.. there are dudes with 100g+ tanks that have crashes... or some large coral which lasted 10 years mysteriously dies out of no where...

But... yeah.... school is the priority... later comes the reef...haha.

If you're really into keeping tanks though.. theres nothing wrong with keeping a few nice looking fish in a FOWLR.

Or even freshwater, if you look around there really are some really cool freshwater fish...

Anyway.. good luck bro.

I agree. Just downsize and keep everything simple. I got a 20G setup that I'm looking to get rid of if you're going that direction. Comes with almost everything. Just LMK and I'll give you some frags as well to get back into it.

Best of luck to you Justin, I'm sure it was a thoughtful decision you made in regard to stepping out for a while. Quite understandable with the very long hours you keep with your schooling.

You know we're here when you are in a better position to rejoin the hobby...we'll leave the light on for ya ;)
