  1. Eco-Aqualizer

Has anyone used this yet? I have several of them in use and they are working great.
  2. Brown algea over growth

O.K. ......let's examine this. You have 384 watts over a FOWLR tank. Your primary producers are algae....you have no corals to utilize this light. The temp alone will not grow algae. NOTHING by itself will grow algae in a tank. It is a cooperative effect between light and nutrients. Low...
  3. Newbie needs help: Clownfish not eating, even goldenpearls.

The white stringy stuff is troubled bowels. Too much change in water chemistry (was he at 1.025 at the store where you got him from?) along with diet he is not used to is causing him indigestion. Or....the improper food he has eaten since he was pulled out of the ocean is being pushed out by all...
  4. ich on potters

Is this a new fish or have you had it for a while? If it is an old fish,do what naesco says and he will prob get over it. If it is a new fish...try to catch him out and quarantine him properly. I say this because if he is new, his defenses are way down and the garlic will not be enough to push...
  5. Newbie needs help: Clownfish not eating, even goldenpearls.

Why is there a Lysmata amboinensis (cleaner shrimp) in your QT! Get it out of there. A QT is for chemicals. If there is a substrate in there, take it out too. Just a filter pvc pieces and a heater. You should be treating QT with copper (maintain at 2ppm for several weeks. Test daily) A good food...
  6. Tank Break in period under new MH's?

Keep in mind this is only another opinion, but.......ere on the side of caution....always. I would start your halides at 2 hours per day (i assume that your vho's are still going?) and increase 1 hour PER WEEK. It works every time I do it. WHY NOT? There should be no rush to run your lights up...
  7. Is this Wrasse reef safe????

Those are great fish....for a FO. Sometimes inexperienced fish store employees are embaressed that they dont know and will tell you anything. Always consult a Scott Michaels book if you are clueless before a purchase. Carry that book with you like a yellow tang carries protazoans.
  8. Cleaning? Fire Shrimp

Coral banded shrimp (Stenopus hispidus) are big time cleaners in nature but almost never exhibit this behavior in an aquarium. Some times it works sometimes it don't. At least they are beautiful.
  9. indentification help

Fish in your pic looks like A. percula. Joyce Wilkerson's book is a must.
  10. i think i got ripped off :(

    A man gave you tit? :( :( :( :? :)  lol sorry...had to do it.
  11. tank pics

Looks like a sponge from here. Nice job newt and great tank...especially for a first tank! By the way...how do you post pics?
  12. 90k gallons of oil good for florida reefs?

They need to make double-containment a law. Plus oil companies should pay in full for the damages and have their own clean-up teams that specialize in this. Down with oil, c'mon hydrogen.....or even cold fusion. :o
  13. clams safe with snowflake eel??

Echidna nebulosa (snowflake eel) will not harm your clam in anyway......is it a good idea to have one in a reef? That is another question. I like to have Centropyge angels in my reefs. It's not mandatory that they are in there but i love them. You will get a million opinions about wich ones are...
  14. Sally Lightfoots: Reefsafe or Not??

bah, Who needs a nurse shark. I keep a sand tiger shark in my bathtub. Who would have thought those scales could scrub so well.........
  15. Lets get this signed off (Plumbing Design)

Great idea about the flex pvc. It should absorb vibration. The grey pvc glue works best on the flexy pvc.
