you need to get this. that refractometer is not the best thing to use. can fail and cause problems.

i bought this from amazon.

Milwaukee Digital-Refractometer

Thank you for the heads-up Rob
I have 2 Refractometers and I test my salinity with each one
(for safety purposes)
I will look to get the one you recommended once I am done getting all the equipment missing for my tank like: Skimmer, Apex, Gyre, T5 Fixtures

It's ridiculous how much crap we end up buying for our tanks isn't it?

I just got my Black Friday loot delivered and I spent enough $$$ that when it came, I kept looking for a second box because it hurt to think all that stuff fit in that tiny little container.

How are you organizing the big transfer? Is the old tank still up or did you break it down already? Where's all your livestock living?

I pick up the Milwaukee Digital-Refractometer at BRS, during their Black Friday sale, it was $83. The thing is that I check it again my refractormeter and got the same reading, so outside of it telling me what temp the water is, the results were still the same.

I did break down the 90 and transferred all live stock to a smaller tank..

yeah and I know 1000's reefers use a refractometer to test salinity 1 can fail but 2 at the same time :scratchch
I also calibrate them very often

1: aquascape not done yet
I have to pick up about 80lbs of live rock from alan.reef

2: running my reef octopus from my 90 until I get the skimmer I really want

3: I lost most of my corals (SPS, all zoas, acans, hammers, etc. etc. etc.) due to a heater failure

anyways now I'm trying to move forward and enjoy the tank
