Look at them colors man, damn! Everything looks so great!

The thing i like about the tank is that the colors are so spread out. You have the whole spectrum covered!

Looking great as always!

Thanks Pedro. I try to make the colors contrast a bit. I need to get a better quality pic. For some reason the tank either looks pinkish or if I lower the exp setting it comes out too dark. Anyway, 2 of the torts on the left side are from you :) They colored nicely. LMK when you're free to come by. Open invite :)

I knew they would, you the man. That makes me really happy knowing that they are in good hands. Can you get a closeup of just those corals? What happened to the yellow table, how's that doing?

Let me see when work slows down, i get home so exhausted i end up doing nothing. I'll bring my cam with me for sure.

I finally did it :D I changed my lighting. I've been wanting to do this for a while. I switched from my 250w DE's + VHO's to 400w SE in Luminarc reflectors. I got the idea after seeing Tony Acropora's tank a few times. He runs 10k Reeflux bulbs unsupplemented and the color is perfect. Nice blue white color that really makes your corals colors pop(especially blues) The tank does appear much brighter in person. I shortened my photoperiod to 4 hrs for now so I don't bleach my whole tank :D Thanks for your help Ronen.

holly cr@p Rich!

that's a serious switch. can you tell us what you thought the 250DE's were lacking? I was contemplating going to the 250DE's using the DE luminarc's
400 watt SE's in luminarcs seems extreme

tank looks great by the way.

250w DE's weren't really lacking but I wanted better coverage from my halides which the luminarcs seem to have done. I also wanted the tank to appear brighter and hopefully increase growth. My #1 reason for switching is because I have seen this same lighting system on one of my favorite tanks and I love the color. Thansk J. I am fighting an algae outbreak at the moment. Freakin mex turbos die and filthy up my tank :( Soon enough i'll have a beast of a skimmer running on this tank again:smokin:

Rich first of all I am really amazed with your tank and awesome colors on your sticks. I am also running 3x250 10K Ushio with no supplementation I turn my actinics on during the night time before my halides go off for 30 mins and thats about it. I have been doing this for almost 2 weeks now and seen my change on colors on some SPS especially TORTS . When I used to run the PHX with actinics on I seem to see my SPS has some green tint on all my torts and with this 10k no supplementation I see a deeper blue... JME......

so if 250's look like 400's using the luminarcs, what do 400's in luminarcs look like? Rich can you post a shot of the tank without the lights showing.
I want to see what the sun looks like on your tank ;)

Looks great Rich. If I pull out my middle luminarc, I can go with 2 400's over my tank. I'm just not sure I wanna take the plunge. I've got great coverage with 3 250's, but I;m sure I'll get better PAR with 400's. Being an XM guy, I like my mix of bulbs.

Thanks Pnoy! I used to run the 250w Phoenix as well and i noticed the same with the greens.

The thing with these 400w reeflux bulbs is that it is kind of a weird spectrum. Do you know how when most halides are firing up these is a point where all your corals colors really pop? This is the best way that i can describe the 10k reeflex on the coralvue ballast(400w)

Jon I'll do my best to get a accurate shot of the color and intensity.

Chris I think with 2 halides you may have some dim sides of the tank but you can stick all the softies and LPS there. Definitely come check out these light in person before you take the plunge.
