Plumbing has begun. I got the fittings and pipe yesterday. I ran only the drain tonight. It is some odd geometry. Almost straight down to the sump, but not quite. Of course it is not far enough apart to make fittings work. After much fussing I was able to dig up a piece of spa flex and use that for the drain. Luckily I had that scrap in the shed. Hopefully I can work on the return side plumbing tomorrow, with less frustration.

Should I glue the spaflex? Right now it is just pushed in the two bulheads. If so will regular PVC glue work?

yeah it'll work.
I take it you just have slip on bulkheads? I have barbed fittings and both drain and return lines are flex, with hose clamps. with the space being as tight as it is in my sump/stand I wasnt interested in installing twist off quick releases

They make a special glue for spaflex. That's what I used when I've used it in the past. Regular make work just fine, but if it doesn't....And it cost like $4 for a small can.

I'll read the lable of what I got to see if it will work with spaflex. If not I will go get what I need. Atleast I got it fitted.

Regular medium PVC cement works on spaflex. You just do not use the primer since it already has more plastisizers in it than rigid PVC. Got the drain and pump suction side run last night. Also assembled the threaded adapter, union, valve on the outlet side. I needed to think on how I want to route the outlet line so it would be as out of the way as possible. Should get that done tonight.

I never knew #10-32 hex head cap screws were so hard to find. Lowes and Home Depot do not carry them. I am going to have to go to Fastenal to get them. Lucky it is just down the street from work.

Just think, in another week or so, you can stock the school of PBT's that you've always wanted.

Since I had them I put in a MJ1200 and a MJ1000 in the tank until I get the vortec's. I got the 1000 near the bottom and now have enough water in the tank to have it on. It is storming here so not much to do.

We had a minor cat-astrophy yesterday. I had the hose to fill the tank running from the filter to the tank across the house. It was off, since I did not want it running with no one home. The system has one of those back pressure shutoffs so I had shut it off with a valve I have at the end of the hose. Wife and kids came home to water all over the dining area. One section of the poly tube had "sprung" a leak. They were able to shut things off. When I got home and looked at the tube it had two holes almost directly across from each other with the plastic pushed in. It looks like one of the cats bit the hose. I know it was not the dog, he was in his kennel. I cut the bad section off and reattached the union to get the tank finished filling. It was not to much of a mess, just a few towles to clean it up.

I had a few minor floods when I built out my 300. They were always float valve related.

**** always manages to happen.

Micro bubbles suck. They are giving the optical top off sensor a hard time. I hope once it has been running a few day they settle out.

I need a live rock supplier. I stopped at the shop I use to use in New Orleans. He does not carry live rock any more. He make his own stuff and I just do not want concret rocks. The shop here in Houma does not have much on hand and I would like some fresh rock.

Yes I am bummed. The store here did have some nice base rock for $2.50/lb. I picked up 21 lbs (3 pieces) at lunch. I really want to go with fewer bigger pieces this time. About 7lb/piece looks about the right size for what I want to do.
