A noticeable change during one month observation:

The recovering tri-colored Favia under the illumination of LED lighting:

One month ago (Feb. 2010)

Now (March, 2010)

This Favia experienced the bleaching resulted from the insufficient lighting due to it's being shielded by a crazy growing Monti in my another tank. I moved it from that tank to this one two months ago. It looked like a totally pale favia then.

After putting it at the position with sufficient light on it, it is now greatly recovering from the terrible condition. One can see that the color as well as its tissue are coming back. I am looking forward to its entire recovery in the near future.

Another example of the improving coral condition:

The brightening multi-color Echinata

Two months ago (Jan. 2010)
PH84_F_15_100102182000_2.jpg

This multi-color Echinata was first placed under the LED lighting WITHOUT UV LED light (as shown above, two months ago before the fixture replacement). One can see that the whole coral looks dark in color. When I changed the fixture from ThorTek to Illumagic (the main difference is the wattage of the LEDs and the UV LEDs), this Echinata began its journey of brightening (as shown below, one month ago).

One month ago (Feb. 2010)

Someone might doubt that this could be a bleaching process but not brightening since both phenomenons experience the brightening course. However, the pic taken few days ago (as shown below, Now) shows that the color remains as saturated as it was one month ago. No further decrease in color intensity is observed till now.

Now (March 2010)

I am not sure about the possible change in the near future, may be better or worse. I think a conclusion to this change is still too early. Will keep you posted to see what will happened in the coming months.

I heard thru the grapevine that saltwatercritters.com will be the supplier for the Illumagic blaze series fixtures as soon as it passes its electrical standard tests or similiar.Forget what he said in the email he sent me. Just a safety test to cover legal actions I suppose? That takes a month or two he said.So it might be may until its release here. I would watch the maxpect series led system.Better made ,stronger leds, easy changeable leds.Just waiting for them to add the dimmer control and I'm buying!!!!!

Just switched to the new tank which is the same dimension as the old one. However, a new stand made of stainless steel is adopted this time.
