He'd probably get a lot more bids if he knew how to spell "Ricordea"

I have seen both spellings dea and dia used in scientific papers as well as on many internet sites.

Hrmm. Everything I've read (albeit probably not as much as you, honestly) has it spelled Ricordea.

If I was surfing for it, I'd spell it "ea".

but seriously Chip....with a post count like that, you should know vendors are not gonna divulge their livestock sources....access to good stock is the only competetive advantage most of them have left, since "advice" and "customer support" hold little value to an educated consumer in the information age. :D

:D WELL...

HAVE YOU FOUND IT YET?

Quite interesting.

RICORDEAS.NET = TEXAS ??

I think not. Research into this domain name shows Cristiana Hamann as the owner of ricordeas.net with a North Miami address and phone number. Email address with the registrar for Ms. Hamann matches that of a Brazilian childrens song writer with the same name.

Something smells fishy again (still?) in South Florida. Intrigued now, must delve further into this research.

Hello Uncle JT and everyone,
I am thrilled that I have been researched! That means that although I am on my 40's I am still researcheable material! :)

I am the proud owner of Ricordeas.net. Ricordeas are my passion and now my business too. I do live in Houston, Texas, however I have a warehouse in Florida where I keep my live stock. It is just more practical that way!

Ricordeas are not my exclusive passion... If you do a little more research you will find out also that I am a singer/ songwriter... illustrator, cartoonist, doll artist and childrens books writer. However as you can imagine it is very difficult to make a living out of art! So as simple as that, I found out that one of my true passions is actually profitable! What is fishy about that? I have ricordeas for sale.
That is what matters! Isn't it?

Do you have any other hobbies?

Respectfully,

Kiki (Cristiana Hamann)

Nice to meet you Kiki.

I have a REAL big problem with internet etailers who don't provide any contact info, other than an email address, on their website. Not asking those to devulge personal secrects on the site, but you don't even have a real name listed anywhere on the site. I've seen too many honest hobbyists get ripped off hard by fly-by-night internet sites with no contact info listed.

Live in Houston but with a warehouse in Miami where the major Atlantic players hang out? Interestink. I'm sorry, this just doesn't jive.. you can't possibly afford that kind of investment by selling purely ricordea alone.

Houston, we have a problem...

Hello Uncle,
nice meeting you too! I am sorry if my first impression was not good enough for you. By the way, I don't see you name as well!
I believe I did introduce myself more than enough. I gave you plenty of information... but, ok... my financial life.. is just asking a little too much, don't you think? ;)
Miami is the gate of the world... for Atlantic Marine Life, wouldn't you agree? It costs me less money setting up here than taking all the merchandise over to Houston.... besides, it gives me the excuse of coming here often and enjoying a bit of paradise!

Why are you so harsh on me? I am an honest woman, beginning a business, with a self made web page, backed up by paypal. This is the way I can afford it! Thanks for your tips. I appreciate the input and will consider it as sincere.
Regarding big players, I am definetely not one of them and am here to play nobody. My only interest is to sell the product I love and have access to.

I hope that by taking the time to do so much explaining, we can now start off on the right foot!

Nice to meet you , Uncle JT
Why don't you introduce yourself as well? I am here to learn. I am always open minded.

Regards,
Kiki

JT isn't hiding anything, his real name is JT ;) He's the local outer of phonies and fakes. He'll grill you some more, then it'll be over, unless he finds some dirt. In that case, I'm sure Chip will grab another bag of popcorn and dig in.

Just goto his profile and view his posts, you can learn alot about a person that way :D

BTW, welcome to RDO :D

Hello Kiki,

If you scan a few threads down the board, you'll see *who* JT is. Here's a hint - the subject line is "Fish Heads is Hiring". Like Gresham said, read a few of his posts - no mysteries there.

Personally, I find using one's business URL as a screen name tastes a bit like schilling, but since the mods haven't voiced any objections to commecial posting, I guess it's ok with them.

And if there's any mystery about me, all my info is on my business' website in my sig line. Try the "About Us" section.

If you spend a little time here, or read a few of the posts, you'll figure out who most of us are, and what our philosophies are. There are a few who try to conceal their identities for the sake of stirring up trouble, but most of us know each other, many of us deal with each other. This industry creates a pretty tightly knit community.

At no time did I "ask" you to explain yourself, I was merely stating obvious observations.

Harsh? Hardly, you haven't seen harsh from me. Backed by "paypal", oh that will make me sleep better at night.

Oh, I see you are also selling on eBay now. Do some search on reefs.org and reefcentral.com from a few years ago and you will see I've been fighting eBay for several years to stop the selling of live coral and rock on eBay. eBay does not allow the sale of animals but they don't consider coral reef life to be animals. Last time I checked, corals are animals.. not plants. Selling corals on eBay is a pretty pathetic way to make a living.

Thank you guys for the warm welcome! I no longer feel like I am under attack! I had no intentions to join a forum to promote my very small business. It seems that ricordeas don't need promoting at all..... lol
Anyway, like I said before... I have a true passion for them and also for corals in general. I am an coastal girl... lived all my life surrounded by gorgeous oceans and can't take my hands off a good tank.
Is there a way I can change my login id? I will do that, no second thoughts. I am just proud of how far I have come... so it was just a slip out of being a proud girl. Please everyone, accept my apologies, no intentions do schill or disrespect the forum!
From this point on... I will read more before I post. I have the best intentions and plenty of enthusiasm to join a pack of reef lovers and exchange knowledge! I was just bursting for a channel of communication.
Thank you for taking me in,
Hugs

You'd think by now that you'd take these kind of questions to private. Desperate aren't we?

My customers want ricordea, and no one's got any for me. It's simple...I'll try and find them until I get them.

Peace,

Chip

Kiki,

You mean you have went to the trouble to find a way to legally collect ricordea from the Keys. Not many people would have the nerve to put up with the red tape on that one. They would just hammer and chizzel in the dark. Sell away, just nice to see some legal ones around.

I bet JT would love to buy some nice red, yellow, and blue polyps from you.
