looks good B, I wish the rear overflow concept was popular before I had my tank made. It makes such a huge difference in the aquascaping and flow.

why's the intake curved down like that? I've never done any plumbing so I'm not certain the reasons for it...

I take it the water goes to the sump via the curved section, and the top is like a stockman standpipe to reduce gurgling? Did that even make sense? :)

Okay, here's the preliminary sump drawing.

The tall pink box is a Deltec MC500, actually placed in there backwards so the intake to the pump is by the baffles.

The short purple box is an eheim 1262 return pump.

The fuge is 6x6x12 and will sit on top of the sump

Questions or ideas?

Good idea about putting it in the hood.I'm just concerned about putting it up there with 2 150DE fixtures. It might get a bit hot. Plus, getting enough light might be a problem. I've been putting off desiging the hood until I decide what lights I"m going to end up with. I just found a ROIII for a good deal. I just have to decide if I'm going to pair it up with the PFO I have now, or wait for the Luminarc Mini's to go DE.

Today I'm going to the book store to look for pics of furntiure. I've got to decide what I'm going to use for the tank before I get too much further in the design. I"m leaning towards maple with walnut trim right now. But I might completely change my mind (or my budget) and just use plywood and paint it.

I've been working with the lights. (okay, procrastinating on the stand)

I drafted up a ROIII, and added the ring of the spectral plot from Sanjay's analysis.

It's drawn as a 150, but has the plot of the 250 (@12") Since I'm not figuring intensity, just light pattern, I figured it would give me a rough estimate.

I'm impressed how much the light is spread out.

Right now the lights are 4" off the top of the tank- I think a little low. But check out the spread pattern.

Thoughts?

Impressive spread, but unrealistic height. Raise them up to 10" and show the spread. I'm sure it'll be fine, but at least realistic. The way you're representing it you could submerge the lights and get better spread :lol2: . :grouphug:
